Following the concept of extreme pursuit and precision production, UM chose a black ceramic shell for Mest Jet Black. The ceramic shell is delicate and feels as warm as jade, so Mest Jet Black is also called "black jade".
The processing of the ceramic shell and panel is extremely complicated. First, it needs to be processed with zirconium dioxide powder, sintered at 1600℃ and multiple complex processes, and then finely polished and processed with high precision by craftsmen, finally presenting a stunning texture. During the sintering process, the size of the earphones will be reduced by about one third, so the design drawings and finished product tolerances need to be repeatedly verified and tested. Due to the high hardness of ceramics, diamond tools need to be used for milling, and the difficulty of post-processing is also extremely great.

6 years of research and testing, UM has successfully developed a new Hybrid Bone Conduction System and Bone Conduction Crossover Technology.
By combining the advantages of the composite balanced iron bone conduction unit and the piezoelectric bone conduction unit, UM has innovatively created a hybrid bone conduction system. Using crossover technology, the sound of each frequency band is processed by a dedicated unit to reduce distortion, making the sound of bone conduction compensation more delicate. The composite balanced iron bone conduction unit focuses on low-mid frequency signals, and the piezoelectric bone conduction is responsible for high-frequency signals. Similar to air conduction headphones, bone conduction crossover technology reduces the burden of a single driver unit to handle the entire frequency band at the same time, reduces nonlinear distortion, makes the sound more natural, and brings users an unprecedented auditory experience.
Through the exquisite distribution and fusion of 2 composite balanced iron bone conduction units and 1 piezoelectric bone conduction unit, UM has created a new Hybrid Bone Conduction System and Bone Conduction Crossover Technology.
Unit configuration
Mest Jet Black continues the MEST series' combination of multiple units, combining bone conduction technology with traditional air conduction technology to bring users a more comprehensive auditory experience.
The following are two conduction systems formed by different units of Mest Jet Black:
1. Air conduction system: sound is transmitted to the ear canal and then to the cochlea through the traditional unit.
Air conduction unit configuration: 1 dynamic + 4 moving iron + 2 electrostatic
2. Bone conduction system: sound is transmitted directly to the inner ear by vibrating the skull.
Bone conduction unit configuration: 2 composite moving iron bone conduction units (low and medium frequency) + 1 piezoelectric bone conduction unit (high frequency)
The dynamic is responsible for low frequency, the moving iron is responsible for medium and high frequency, and the electrostatic is responsible for ultra-high frequency. The combination of the composite moving iron bone conduction unit and the piezoelectric bone conduction unit realizes bone conduction compensation in the full frequency band.
